Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Hospital Shift Lead to support the Practice Manager and COS in guiding the team to maximize productivity and profitability while ensuring exceptional client and pet experiences.

The Shift Lead will perform Client Services Coordinator and Veterinary Assistant duties when needed, lead by example in service quality, and help educate clients about wellness plans and ongoing care.

Qualifications

• Ability to work at a computer for long periods.
• Must work special hours, including weekends and evenings.
• Requires mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking English).
• Comfortable in a loud, moderately high noise environment and strong smells.
• Requires ambulatory skills: standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Good hand‑eye coordination and visual acuity for pet care and safety.
• Exposure to pets that may bite or scratch, anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medications.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support the hospital leadership in developing an efficient, productive team that provides the highest quality care and service to the most pets and clients.
• Follow Banfield protocols and practices, focusing the team to achieve practice priorities while building our culture and brand.
• Supervise the team day‑to‑day when called upon, ensuring quality medical care, exceptional client service, associate engagement, and maximum productivity.
• Create an environment where a team can deliver quality, efficient and effective veterinary care to pets and foster associate engagement.
• Provide professional, efficient and exceptional client service (lead by example), educating clients about wellness plans and hospital services and resolving issues.
• Assist in effectively scheduling associates to meet client needs, plan time off and CE scheduling.
• Ensure compliance with all practice policies and procedures and adherence to Banfield dress and grooming guidelines.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.
