Job summary

Abqpetcarehospital in Woodburn, Oregon, is offering an externship for veterinary students in their clinical education phase. Externs will gain practical experience working with a supervising veterinarian in a variety of medical and surgical cases, develop their skills in gathering patient histories and performing exams, and enhance their communication with the medical team and clients.

Job description

Woodburn Veterinary Clinic

Woodburn Veterinary Clinic is a progressive small animal hospital with a sister clinic nearby, both located close to the beach in central Oregon, offering a family‑friendly atmosphere and a variety of medical and surgical cases.

Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing or assisting surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition, externs will practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. They are offered to 3rd and 4th year veterinary students.

Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
