Abqpetcarehospital in Laurel, Virginia, is offering an externship for 3rd- and 4th-year veterinary students. Students will work with a veterinarian to gain hands-on experience in patient care, diagnostics, and surgical procedures.
The externship typically lasts between two to eight weeks, providing vital experience in a supportive environment. A stipend for travel or living expenses is also available for eligible students.
Friendship Veterinary Hospital is a small and growing practice located in a small town and strives to elevate the level of medicine that our clients expect.
Our team consists of one full‑time veterinarian, three part‑time vets, and several highly skilled support staff. We value a "no shame" culture, meeting clients with kindness while understanding financial or medical limits and meeting each other and clients where they are to do right by their pets.
Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in collecting patient histories, performing physical examinations, and developing treatment plans. Students will also participate in diagnostics, dentistry services, and observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures, as well as manage patient care medically. In addition, externs will practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship experiences typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules.
Externships are offered to 3rd‑ and 4th‑year veterinary students.
