Join a leading global pet care organization as an extern at Seaport Animal Hospital. Gain invaluable clinical experience while working alongside skilled veterinarians in a supportive environment dedicated to excellent veterinary care. This externship offers a unique opportunity to enhance your skills and may include a stipend for living expenses.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students with a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, they share common qualities: a supportive environment, a commitment to excellent veterinary medicine, and a focus on providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians at Seaport Animal Hospital to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting with surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. Additionally, externs will have opportunities to enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship durations at Seaport Animal Hospital typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of their class year, are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click HERE for stipend program details. The stipend amount at Seaport Animal Hospital is $500.
