Join a leading global pet care organization as a veterinary extern at NVA, where you'll gain invaluable clinical experience while working alongside dedicated professionals. Over a period of 2 to 8 weeks, you'll develop your veterinary skills in a nurturing environment focused on quality care for pets. This externship supports your educational growth, offering the chance to enhance your clinical, communication, and teamwork abilities while engaging directly with clients and medical staff.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides veterinary students with the opportunity to understand the daily operations of a veterinary practice and gain hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. This externship also offers students the chance to enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
The externship duration ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. It is designed for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students.
Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click here for details on the stipend program. The stipend amount at Premier Veterinary Medical Group is $500.
