An externship at NVA Canton Veterinary Hospital offers veterinary students a unique opportunity for hands-on clinical experience, working closely with veterinarians. Students will enhance their skills in patient care, diagnostics, and communication while participating in a supportive and professional medical environment.
An externship experience at NVA Canton Veterinary Hospital offers students a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, all share a common environment that is supportive, committed to excellent medicine, and dedicated to providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing or assisting with surgical procedures, and managing patient medical care. Additionally, externs will have the opportunity to enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
The externship duration at Canton Veterinary Hospital typically ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of their class year, are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
