Job description

We are a four-doctor small animal practice with an amazing support staff. Our compassionate and knowledgeable team is dedicated to providing high-quality, comprehensive care to our patients and their families. Since 2005, we have been serving the families of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and the surrounding area. Our patients are primarily dogs and cats, and we have separate entrances and lobbies for them at our facility. Our full in-house laboratory includes CBC and chemistry machines, along with Sedivue Urinalysis, laser surgery, ultrasound, digital radiographs, and dental imaging.

During the externship, you will work closely with your supervising veterinarian to gain experience in patient histories, physical exams, treatment plans, diagnostics, surgical and dental procedures, medical management, customer service, client education, and communication.

Externships typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. Heather Ridge Pet Hospital offers externships to students in their final clinical year of veterinary school.

Eligible veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education may receive a travel/living expense stipend. Click HERE to view stipend amounts and HERE for program details.
