A leading global pet care organization is offering externship opportunities for clinical-year veterinary students. This experience allows students to work closely with experienced veterinarians in a supportive environment, performing tasks such as physical exams and assisting in surgeries, while also improving their communication skills. The externship duration ranges from two to eight weeks, and a stipend may be available to support living expenses.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students with a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. Externs will also have opportunities to enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
The externship duration ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. These externships are designed for clinical-year students. We often offer housing options for out-of-town students.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education may be eligible for a travel and living expense stipend. View stipend amounts and more details on the stipend program.
