Job summary

Moreland Animal Hospital, part of Western Veterinary Partners, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support client and patient care across exam, surgery, dentistry, and outpatient procedures in a fast-paced hospital setting.

You will help with exams, treatments, surgeries, anesthesia monitoring, dental radiography, and maintaining medical records, while delivering compassionate client education and building strong team collaboration.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred.
• Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments.
• Experience with radiology, phlebotomy, SQ injections, laboratory sample collection, inpatient nursing care, and obtaining patient histories, weights, and vital signs.
• Experience with surgical preparation, aseptic technique, and assisting during surgical procedures.
• Accurate medical record documentation with strong attention to detail and adherence to hospital protocols.

Responsibilities

• Support efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows.
• Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgical procedures, and dentistry.
• Provide safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care.
• Prepare patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures.
• Monitor anesthesia and support patient recovery as directed by the veterinary team.
• Perform dental prophylaxis and dental radiography.
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
• Review treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately.
• Build positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service.
• Maintain clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces.
