Job summary

Western Veterinary Partners is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support our Oakland, TN clinic across patient care, client service, surgery, dentistry and outpatient procedures. This role offers variety, stability and opportunities to grow within a fast-paced hospital.

You will assist veterinarians during exams, treatments and radiology, handle patients safely, prepare rooms and equipment, maintain accurate medical records, and review discharge instructions with clients.

Qualifications

• 1+ years veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel, or related role preferred
• Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint for dogs/cats of varying sizes
• Ability to assist with exams, treatments, surgery, radiology, and outpatient procedures
• Experience with phlebotomy, SQ injections, laboratory sample collection, and inpatient care
• Obtain patient histories, weights, vital signs, and maintain accurate medical records
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills with teamwork focus

Responsibilities

• Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
• Assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgical procedures, and dentistry
• Providing safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care
• Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
• Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation
• Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
• Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
• Maintaining clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces
