Job summary

West Main Animal Hospital in Medford, OR seeks an experienced Veterinary Assistant focused on supporting surgical and procedural cases. You will work with veterinarians and technicians to prepare patients for procedures, assist with anesthesia and surgery, and maintain a clean, organized surgical environment while delivering attentive patient care.

Minimum 3+ years of veterinary assistant experience preferred, with experience in surgical or anesthetic cases and dental radiography a plus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Experience supporting surgical or anesthetic cases.
• Ability to safely restrain and handle dogs and cats.
• Familiarity with surgical preparation, instrument handling, and maintaining a clean surgical environment.
• Experience assisting with anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery.
• Experience with dental procedures and dental radiography is a plus.
• Familiarity with venipuncture, intravenous catheter placement, and laboratory sample collection.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical and procedure areas, including equipment, instruments, and supplies.
• Support veterinarians and technicians during surgical, dental, and other procedures.
• Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and patient recovery under the direction of the veterinary team.
• Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment while keeping treatment areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Maintain stocked treatment and surgical areas while working collaboratively with the veterinary and client service teams.
