Job summary

A community veterinary clinic in Minnesota is looking for a compassionate Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and provide excellent client service. Job description

Responsibilities
  • Greet clients and patients in a professional, friendly, and empathetic manner
  • Answer multi-line phones, schedule appointments, and manage clinic communications
  • Check clients in and out, process payments, and maintain accurate records
  • Provide general information regarding services, policies, and preventative care
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area
Veterinary Assistant Duties
  • Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient handling and restraint
  • Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas before and after appointments
  • Clean, sterilize, and organize instruments and equipment
  • Support basic laboratory tasks and inventory stocking as directed
  • Monitor patients pre- and post-procedure under supervision
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the clinic
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous veterinary, animal care, medical office, or customer service experience preferred
  • Comfortable working with animals of varying sizes and temperaments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy environment
  • Basic computer and phone system proficiency
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs with assistance when needed
  • Comfortable bending, kneeling, and reaching regularly
  • Ability to safely restrain animals with guidance and training
  • Fast-paced veterinary clinic setting
  • Exposure to animals, cleaning agents, and medical equipment
  • Occasional emotional or urgent situations involving pets and clients
