Job summary

VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center in Fishers, IN, is expanding its Neurology service and seeking a compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join the team. This full-time position offers 4 x 10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday with pay scales reflecting license, skill, and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and compassionately handle nervous, painful, and neurologic patients, including following spinal precautions.
  • Assist with patient preparation, prepare surgical sites, and assist with maintaining sterile technique throughout the surgical process.
  • Properly collect, label, and handle laboratory samples, including blood, urine, and CSF.
  • Clean, disinfect, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment, including autoclave operation.
  • Maintain clean and aseptic conditions in the OR, prep, and patient holding areas.
  • Follow all infection control, biohazard, sharps, and safety protocols.
  • Work closely with technicians and veterinarians to ensure patients and procedures are prepared appropriately.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork, attention to detail, compassion, and the ability to remain calm in a fast-paced specialty environment.
  • Be eager to learn, receptive to feedback, and able to follow detailed instructions and established protocols.

Job description

VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center is expanding our Neurology service, and we're looking for a compassionate, motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our team.

Schedule:

Full-time, 4 x 10-hour shifts, Monday - Thursday. The starting range is determined by license, skill set, and years of experience in the field. Financial growth opportunities available.

Compensation:

$ 17 - $19 / hr and starting pay is based on skill set and experience, with real opportunities for financial growth.

About VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center:

As a 24/7/365 specialty and emergency hospital, AVCC offers the equipment, caseload, and mentorship giving our technicians the chance to work on the full spectrum of internal medicine cases, from routine to rare.

Responsibilities & Skills
