Job summary

VCA Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center of Kalamazoo is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our Neurology team in Portage, MI. This 24/7/365 emergency, critical care and specialty practice offers hands-on learning and growth in a collaborative setting.

As part of the Neurology team, you will collect patient histories, assist with exams, radiology and imaging (MRI), provide compassionate nursing care, and support neurosurgical procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience as Veterinary Assistant required.
• Experience in neurology/critical care preferred.
• Ability to assist with imaging procedures and MRI is desired.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient histories and perform basic physical exams.
• Assist with Hands Free Radiology and imaging procedures.
• Safely handle and restrain neurologic or at-risk patients.
• Provide nursing care and patient comfort.
• Assist with neurosurgical procedures and anesthesia support.
• Collaborate with hospital teams across services.

VCA Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center of Kalamazoo is a 24/7/365 emergency, critical care and specialty practice, located in Portage, MI and we are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our Neurology team.

Neurology Veterinary Assistant Duties:

• Collecting patient histories & physical exams
• Hands Free Radiology (Associate safety a top priority)
• Safe handling and restraint of neurologic, mobility-impaired, painful, or seizure patients
• Supporting advanced imaging procedures including MRI, radiographs, and other neurologic diagnostic imaging procedures
• Surgical preparation and support for neurosurgical procedures
• Working collaboratively with team members of all hospital services
• Providing compassionate nursing care and patient comfort measures

Compensation: $18 - $31 / hour is based on experience and skill set

Schedule: Full Time, Monday thru Thursday
