VCA Capital Area Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Animal Hospital (CAVES) in Concord, NH is seeking a credentialed veterinary technician (CVT) to join our Neurology and I-131 team. This hands-on role includes patient care, anesthesia, surgery assistance, and support across emergency and specialty services.

As a CVT, you’ll work in a fast-paced, 24/7 hospital alongside board-certified specialists, with state-of-the-art equipment, robust benefits, and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Credentialed veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT) or technician in training.
  • Experience in emergency and/or specialty settings is valuable.
  • Strong patient-care, anesthesia, and surgical assistance skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and assist with neurologic exams and seizure documentation.
  • Prepare patients for surgery with aseptic technique.
  • Administer and monitor anesthesia with neuro-specific considerations.
  • Place IV catheters, perform venipuncture, and manage fluids.
  • Monitor patients in recovery and manage post-operative pain.
  • Support advanced diagnostics including radiography, MRI, CT, and EMG/BAER.
  • Maintain detailed medical records and communicate with veterinarians and families.
  • Monitor isolation patients during I-131 therapy and ensure safety.

VCA Capital Area Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Animal Hospital (CAVES)

Credentialed Veterinary Technicians don't come along every day — and we know it. We're looking for a compassionate, experienced Certified Veterinary Technician to join a Neurology & I 131 team that values your skills, respects your expertise, and gives you the tools to actually use them. This is a hands‑on role where your skills and experience will be put to real use — patient care, treatment support, anesthesia, surgery assisting, and everything in between.

Compensation: $25.00 - $37.00 / hr based on skill set, experience and licensure status.

Schedule: Full time, (4) 10 hour shifts

What You’ll Do

Whether you're a credentialed veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT) or a technician in training, we want you using every skill you've worked hard to build:

CVT Neurology and I-131 Technician Skills
  • Performs and assists with neurologic exams (mentation, cranial nerves, gait, spinal reflexes) and recognizes/documents seizure activity
  • Prepares patients for surgery, including clipping, scrubbing, and positioning, while maintaining strict aseptic technique
  • Administers and monitors anesthesia, calculating anesthetic/analgesic dosages, with added attention to neuro-specific risks
  • Places IV catheters, performs venipuncture, and manages fluid therapy
  • Monitors patients through recovery, managing pain and identifying post-surgical complications early
  • Positions and preps patients for advanced diagnostics — radiography, MRI, CT, myelography, CSF collection, and electrodiagnostics (EMG, BAER)Maintains accurate, detailed medical records and controlled substance logs
  • Communicates clearly and works efficiently with veterinarians, pet parents and the surgical team, especially in fast‑paced or emergency situations
  • Monitors I-131 patients during isolation, tracking radiation levels for staff/patient safety clearance and managing patient comfort and husbandry needs during confinement
  • Provides specialized care for feline I-131 (radioiodine) therapy patients, following radiation safety protocols for handling, isolation housing, and waste management

As a CVT at VCA CAVES, you’ll work in a fast‑paced, 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital in Concord, NH, gaining hands‑on experience across emergency/critical care, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, neurology and surgery.
