Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, educate clients on pet health, and help maintain a safe hospital environment. The role involves assisting with procedures, maintaining medical records, and mentoring junior staff, with focus on Five Principles and NAVTA guidelines.

The position requires NAVTA-credential or equivalent, strong communication, and the ability to work weekends/evenings.

Qualifications

• NAVTA-certified veterinary assistant program or equivalent.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old to perform radiography and related duties.
• One year related experience preferred with customer service.
• NAVTA-approved program or equivalent knowledge/experience.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians and technicians to ensure quality care and maximize productivity.
• Educate clients about pet health and hospital services.
• Obtain patient history and maintain medical charts.
• Assist with surgery and monitor hospitalized or surgical pets as allowed by state acts.
• Maintain clean, sterile treatment areas and labs; follow safety protocols.
• Mentor other paraprofessionals in the hospital.
