Job summary

Petco is hiring a Veterinary Assistant to support Vetco Total Care full-service hospital patients and their owners. You will assist doctors, manage patient records, and ensure a high-quality client experience in a fast-paced veterinary setting.

The position emphasizes teamwork, compassionate animal care, and strong communication with clients and staff. A positive, professional demeanor is required, with a focus on patient welfare and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments and accept change.
• Must have telephone and computer skills.
• Compassionate and sympathetic demeanor in emotional situations.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, record weight and vital signs, and document visits in EMR.
• Assist doctors with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Prepare patients for procedures and monitor anesthesia.
• Provide client education and schedule appointments; maintain records.
• Perform in-hospital treatments including medications and IV fluids; keep patients clean and fed as directed.
• Assist in training new staff and maintain a neat hospital environment.
• Provide backup front desk and phone support as needed.
