Job summary

Petco is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support Vetco Total Care patients and provide compassionate client service in our hospital setting. You will work with veterinarians and techs to deliver high-quality care and a positive client experience.

Responsibilities include greeting clients, taking vitals, assisting with surgeries and dental procedures, handling specimens and medications, maintaining EMRs, and keeping the hospital clean and organized.

Qualifications

• Preferred 1 year of veterinary practice or related animal care experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, professional demeanor under stress.
• Telephone and computer skills.
• Team player willing to learn and adapt.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, take weight and vitals, and document in EMR.
• Assist doctors with routine and emergency appointments, surgery, dentistry, euthanasia.
• Perform patient restraint, collect lab samples, and dispense medications.
• Schedule appointments and educate clients; update records.
• Prepare patients for procedures; assist with anesthesia and recovery.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and manage fluids; ensure patient care.
• Assist HOM/HLOD in training new staff.
• Keep hospital clean and maintain equipment on schedule.
