Job summary

Petco is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support Vetco Total Care patients and provide excellent customer care to owners. You will help with exams, treatments, and hospital workflows, ensuring patient well-being and a positive client experience.

Responsibilities include assisting doctors, managing records, and supporting anesthesia and post-operative care in a fast-paced veterinary hospital environment. Must be compassionate, team-oriented, and capable of multitasking.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in a veterinary setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, team player with professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients arriving for appointments and escort them into an exam room, obtain weight and vital signs, and record the EMR.
• Assist doctors with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Perform patient restraint, obtain and process laboratory samples, and handle medications as directed.
• Schedule appointments, provide client education, relay test results, and maintain client/patient records.
• Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures and assist during anesthesia as needed.
• Support in-hospital treatments for sick patients, including fluids and medications, and monitor during recovery.
