Petco is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to provide excellent medical care to Vetco Total Care patients and outstanding customer service to owners. The role focuses on patient welfare, accurate record-keeping, and collaborative teamwork within the hospital.

The position emphasizes assisting doctors and veterinary technicians in routine and emergency care, anesthesia, and post-procedure recovery, while maintaining a clean, efficient hospital environment and strong client communication.

Qualifications

• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be compassionate and sympathetic, and maintain professional demeanor under stress.
• Preferred to have at least 1-year experience in veterinary practice.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, record vitals, and document visits in EMR.
• Assist doctors with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Assist in anesthesia and monitor patients during recovery and discharge.
• Prepare patients for procedures and help with in-hospital treatments and medications.
• Train new staff and keep the hospital environment clean and organized.
• Provide backup front desk support as needed.
