Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to provide excellent medical care to our Vetco Total Care patients and exceptional customer service to their owners.

You will help the doctors during appointments, surgeries, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision. You will assist with patient restraint, collect specimens, maintain electronic medical records, schedule appointments, educate clients, and help keep the hospital clean and organized while supporting a cohesive team

Qualifications

• Preferred to have at least 1 year of experience in a veterinary practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate and sympathetic with professional attitude.
• Must have telephone and computer skills.
• Team player willing to learn and adapt.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and escort patients, record weight and vital signs in EMR.
• Assist doctors during appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Perform patient restraint and handle lab samples and medications as directed.
• Schedule appointments, provide client education, and update records.
• Help prepare patients for procedures and monitor anesthesia as needed.
• Assist in in-hospital treatments and care, including fluids and nursing tasks.
• Support training of new staff and share knowledge as required.
• Keep hospital clean and maintain a safe environment.
