PETCO Animal Supplies Stores, Inc. is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support Vetco Total Care hospital patients and provide exceptional customer service to pet owners.

You will work under veterinarians and techs to assist with exams, procedures, imaging, and patient care in a fast-paced veterinary hospital environment. Ideal candidates have 1+ year of veterinary or animal care experience, strong communication skills, and a compassionate, team-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in veterinary practice or related animal care.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate and professional demeanor under stress.
• Telephone and computer skills.
• Must be a team player willing to learn and adapt.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, escort to exam rooms, record weights and vital signs in EMR.
• Assist doctors with routine and emergency appointments, surgeries, dentistry, and euthanasia.
• Perform patient restraint, handle lab samples, dispense medications as directed.
• Schedule appointments, provide client education, and maintain client/patient records.
• Prepare patients for procedures and assist during anesthesia and recovery.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and support, monitor vital signs, and ensure patient comfort.
