Job summary

The Animal Care Center of Polaris is seeking a part-time Veterinary Assistant / Receptionist to join our team. In this dual role, you will greet clients at the front desk and provide hands-on support to our medical staff in the back.

The ideal candidate is a multitasker who enjoys interacting with people and animals while delivering high-quality care. Responsibilities include managing appointments, handling payments, assisting with exams, and maintaining a clean, organized clinic.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility.
• High school diploma or equivalent; Veterinary Assistant certificate is a plus.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for long periods.
• Exceptional communication skills and a calm demeanor in high-stress or emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients, check in/out patients, and answer multi-line calls.
• Schedule appointments and manage records using clinic software.
• Process payments and explain basic estimates to clients.
• Refill prescriptions under supervision and manage front-desk inventory.
• Restrain animals during exams and assist with procedures.
• Prepare exam rooms and document vital statistics for patients.
• Maintain a clean, disinfected clinic environment.
• Assist in preparing lab samples and standardizing equipment.
