Job summary

South Platte Veterinary Hospital in Sheridan, CO is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in patient care, exams, and surgeries. You will monitor hospitalized pets, assist with sample collection, and educate clients on procedures and care plans.

The role emphasizes compassion, teamwork, accurate record-keeping, and adherence to safety protocols in a busy clinical setting. Weekend availability may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in exams and surgeries, and in patient care as needed.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams; educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vitals during procedures.
• Collect samples and perform in-house lab work; handle radiographs with safety.
• Maintain clean exam rooms, stock supplies, and support staff as needed.
• Provide warm, courteous interactions with clients and show compassion to patients.
