Job summary

Broadway Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment. You will monitor hospitalized pets, prepare prescriptions, and assist with surgical procedures while educating clients about procedures and care.

The role requires the ability to lift equipment, work weekends, and maintain accurate lab records. Team collaboration and clear communication are essential for delivering high-quality care to small animals.

Qualifications

• Provide compassionate patient care and client education.
• Assist with surgeries and in-house procedures.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and maintain records.
• Communicate clearly with veterinarians and clients.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery as needed.
• Assist outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights, and provide client education.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Obtain samples and perform in-hospital laboratory testing; prepare specimens for labs.
• Take radiographs following safety procedures.
• Assist with animal handling and restraining during exams.
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments.
• Maintain clean and stocked exam rooms and lab areas; support related duties.
• Demonstrate warmth and professionalism with clients and patients.
• Communicate with veterinarians and team members about patient plans and concerns.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
