Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health invites applications for an Emergency Veterinary Assistant position in the Mequon area. This part-time, third-shift role involves caring for pets in a 24/7 emergency setting, supporting veterinarians, and engaging with families during critical care scenarios.

The successful candidate will document vitals, assist with diagnostics and procedures, and maintain high standards of safety and confidentiality in a fast-paced environment. Fluency in English is required.

Qualifications

• Experience as Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician welcomed.
• Willingness to learn and apply skills in daily work life.
• Effective written and oral communication.
• Reliable with good follow-through.
• Fluent English (speaking & reading) required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and document patient vital signs and activity.
• Support veterinarians and other departments as needed.
• Provide comfort, diagnostic, surgical and nursing care to patients.
• Perform lab procedures (blood typing, cross matching, slide agglutination).
• Take and process abdominal, thoracic, spinal radiographs with safety protocols.
• Maintain and use medical equipment correctly.
• Provide professional client communication.
• Keep hospital areas clean and safe; ensure confidentiality.
• Meet/exceed performance and attendance standards.

Location: Ozaukee, WI

Schedule: Part Time | 3rd Shift | 2 Ten Hour Shifts Per Week | Some Weekends and Holidays May Be Required

Compensation: $18-21/hr, Dependent On Experience | Overnight Shift Differential $5/hr from midnight - 8am

In your day-to-day, you will

• Monitor and appropriately document patient vital signs and activity


• Provide support to all veterinarians and assist other departments as requested


• Provide comfort, diagnostic, surgical and nursing care to all patients including critical care patients


• Perform various laboratory procedures including but not limited to blood typing, cross matching and slide agglutination testing


• Accurately take and process abdominal, thoracic, appendicular, spinal, and skull radiograph while following appropriate radiation safety protocols


• Properly use and maintain medical equipment


• Provide professional client communication


• Demonstrates an ability and awareness to keep hospital areas clean and neat, maintain a safe and clean work environment


• Required to maintain client and patient confidentiality


• Meet or exceed performance standards for work quality and productivity


• Meet or exceed WVRC expectations for attendance and punctuality
