Job summary

Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center (WVRC) Waukesha is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join a 24/7, state-of-the-art team. You will assist veterinarians and credentialed technicians, safely restrain patients, maintain clean care areas, and help with daily operations in a fast-paced emergency setting.

The role requires prior experience with dogs and cats in a clinic or shelter, exceptional multitasking ability, and a compassionate, team-centered attitude.

Qualifications

• Must have worked or volunteered with dogs and cats at a clinic, Humane Society, kennel, or similar.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced hospital environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and patient care.
• Stamina to stand and walk for the majority of shifts.
• Flexible schedule and willingness to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Safely restrain patients for examinations, treatments, and diagnostic procedures.
• Maintain clean, sanitized patient care areas including kennels and treatment spaces.
• Keep treatment areas stocked and organized to support efficient care.
• Assist with daily laundry to ensure clean linens and supplies are available.
• Walk and exercise hospitalized patients and monitor comfort.
• Prepare meals for hospitalized patients according to care plans.
• Support the medical team by maintaining a clean, organized hospital environment.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail while prioritizing and multitasking in a fast-paced setting.

Veterinary Assistant, Emergency
Location: Waukesha, WI
Schedule: Full Time | 3rd Shift | Four 9 or 10 Hour Shifts Per Week | Includes Every Other Weekend and Some Holidays
Compensation: $16/hr +, Dependent On Experience | Applicable Shift Differentials

• + $3/hr during the hours of 4pm-midnight
• +$5/hr during the hours of midnight to 8am

In your day-to-day, you will:
