Job summary

Petco Wisconsin is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support Vetco Total Care hospital patients and provide exceptional customer care to owners. You will help with exams, anesthesia, and routine treatments while maintaining a clean, well-organized hospital environment.

Responsibilities include greeting clients, collecting patient data, assisting veterinarians during procedures, documenting care in EMR, and educating clients on care plans. Previous vet practice experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Preferred to have at least 1-year previous experience working in veterinary practice.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be compassionate and sympathetic, and maintain a professional demeanor.
• Must have telephone and computer skills.
• Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients arriving for appointments and escort them into an exam room, obtain weight and vital signs and record in EMR.
• Assist doctors with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Perform patient restraint, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications under veterinarian direction.
• Schedule appointments, provide client education, relay test results, and maintain client/patient records.
• Help prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures and assist with anesthesia and recovery.
