Job summary

Wilton Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support patient care and client service in a busy veterinary team. You will work closely with veterinarians and technicians to ensure compassionate care and efficient daily workflow.

The role emphasizes hands-on patient care, client communication, and a collaborative team environment, with a schedule of four days per week and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or hospital setting preferred.
• Strong animal-handling and patient-care skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced veterinary environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Confidence communicating with clients about patient care and preventive recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care, handling, restraint, monitoring, and comfort.
• Obtain patient histories and other relevant patient information.
• Assist veterinarians and technicians with examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Collect blood, urine, and other diagnostic samples as directed.
• Perform basic diagnostic testing, including blood work and urinalysis, based on experience.
• Prepare laboratory samples for analysis.
• Prepare, clean, sanitize, and maintain exam rooms and treatment areas.
• Maintain complete and accurate patient records and treatment documentation.
• Provide exceptional customer service and help build positive client relationships.
• Educate clients regarding patient care, treatment plans, medications, and preventive care.
• Collaborate with doctors, technicians, assistants, and reception team members to maintain an efficient daily workflow.
• Jump in wherever needed to support excellent patient and client care.

What Our Veterinary Assistants Do
