Veterinarian I - Pork Live Production (Remote)

Location: Remote (with some travel to Indiana and Western Ohio)

This position is primarily responsible for direct interaction with company producers and oversight of health-related protocols for wean-to-market operations in the Midwest. Responsibilities include managing health issues on farms, developing immediate and long-term action plans, and communicating with production management and Tech Services. The role involves working with farm personnel to assess health issues, coordinating with Technical Services to develop strategies, improving processes around production, health management, and biosecurity, conducting farm assessments, and training farm staff on health-related SOPs.

Requirements:

• Education: Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) and eligibility to practice in the U.S.
• Experience: No prior experience required; must meet veterinary licensure qualifications.
• Computer Skills: Standard computer skills; familiarity with Tyson Business Computer System may be required.
• Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Special Skills: Licensure or willingness to obtain licensure in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and other Midwest states; USDA accreditation for these states.
• Travel: 10+ domestic trips per year.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, sit, handle objects, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, following safe lifting techniques.
• Personal Protective Equipment: Follow safety procedures and wear PPE when visiting facilities.
• Biosecurity: Shower before entering bio-secure environments; follow Animal Welfare Policy.
