Veterinarian I - Pork Live Production (Remote)

This position is a remote role with some travel requirements, primarily responsible for direct interaction with company producers and oversight of health-related protocols for wean-to-market operations located in the Midwest. Responsibilities include addressing farm health issues, developing immediate and long-term action plans, and communicating with production management and Tech Services. The role involves working with farm personnel to assess health issues, coordinating with Technical Services to develop strategies, improving processes related to production management, health management, and biosecurity, conducting farm assessments, and training farms on health-related SOPs.

Requirements:

• Education: Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine with the ability to practice in the U.S.
• Experience: At least three years of related experience; veterinary college experience counts.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency with standard computer applications; familiarity with Tyson Business Computer System may be required.
• Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Special Skills: Licensure or willingness to obtain licensure in Indiana, Illinois, and possibly other Midwest states; thorough understanding of swine diseases and disorders.
• Travel: 10+ domestic trips per year.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, stand, walk, sit, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity; use of safe lifting techniques.
• Personal Protective Equipment: Follow safety procedures and wear PPE when visiting facilities.
• Biosecurity: Showering before entering facilities, wearing provided clothing and footwear, and adherence to Animal Welfare Policy.
