Job summary

The Veterans Transportation Service (VTS) at the VA Medical Center Des Moines, IA is seeking a Transportation Assistant. You will support the primary contact role to Veterans and help manage transportation services, scheduling, and related documentation.

This full-time position requires attention to data collection, reporting, and process improvement, with duties spanning workload forecasting, coordinating service practices, and ensuring accurate data entry in VISTA/CPRS/SharePoint.

Qualifications

• Selective Placement Factor requires experience in performing customer service duties with diverse customers.
• Specialized experience: 1 full year at GS-05 or equivalent in Federal service with duties related to transportation support, data collection, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact to Veterans and manage transportation services.
• Coordinate connections, scheduling, and admissions to support Veteran Transportation Service.
• Collect, compile, and track data; generate routine reports and analyze data.
• Enter data into automated tracking systems (VISTA/CPRS/SharePoint) and ensure accuracy.
• Assist in workload forecasting and developing procedures to improve service delivery.
• Support program management and daily operation of VTS at Des Moines VA Health Care System.
