Job summary

JVS SoCal is seeking an SSVF Intake Specialist to join the Veterans Service Team in Los Angeles County. You will assess veterans and families for program eligibility, refer to services, and support enrollment.

The role is in-person across multiple sites with some evenings/weekends as needed. Requirements include a BA/BS in a related field or equivalent experience, strong communication, and a passion for helping veterans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Career Counseling, or related field (may substitute for experience). Four years of case management or housing navigation experience may substitute for education.
• Must have passion for working with Veterans.
• Strong customer service and counseling skills to multi-task.
• Excellent communication abilities.
• Timeliness and attention to detail are essential.
• Three+ years experience with priority populations; case management/career counseling preferred.
• Background in case management and/or career counseling; prior military experience and homelessness services preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Be assertive, friendly, and flexible with hours.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client orientation for the program.
• Recruit eligible veterans across Greater Los Angeles area.
• Screen for eligibility, intake, and refer appropriately.
• Perform intake process and document eligibility with required docs.
• Provide follow-up and maintain positive stakeholder relations.
• Coordinate enrollment appointments with supervisor.
• Ensure veteran case files are entered in the system for approval.
• Refer ineligible applicants to suitable programs.
