Job summary

Jericho Project in Manhattan seeks a Housing Specialist to assist very low-income veterans in identifying safe, affordable housing. You will build relationships with landlords, brokers, and agencies to create housing leads and secure placements.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Housing, Data & Quality, you will conduct intakes, manage documentation, help with vouchers (HUD VASH, Section 8, City FHEPS) and support the housing process end-to-end.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; higher education preferred but experience considered.
• 2–3 years relevant experience in housing or social services ideal.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of housing subsidies, NYC housing policies, and vouchers is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct housing intakes and assessments for veterans using a Housing-First approach.
• Develop relationships with landlords, brokers, and real estate agencies.
• Provide housing counseling and placement assistance, including viewings and inspections.
• Assist with applications for housing vouchers (HUD VASH, Section 8, City FHEPS).
• Maintain case notes and prepare monthly housing placement reports.
