Job summary

University of Tennessee Knoxville is seeking a Veterans Benefits Coordinator to create and maintain a master list of veteran certifications each semester, advise students on educational benefit programs, and verify VA benefit data through the Enrollment Manager system. Qualifications

• Associate degree required.
• One year of related work experience, to include financial data, collections, cashiering, explaining policies and procedures, and customer service.
• Knowledge of veteran programs and procedures; familiarity with 3rd party billing, VA refunding, and accounting/auditing/reconciliation principles and practices.
• Strong data entry, calculation and financial analysis skills.
• Ability to identify and solve reconciliation information/issues and to communicate effectively while ensuring FERPA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Directly assists veteran students and dependents with advising on educational benefit programs and the VA contract process.
• Review data in the Enrollment Manager to verify benefit confirmations for VA payments; verify electronic certifications as needed.
• Maintain and daily update master list of certifications and verifications; edit benefits as needed.
• Provide information about VA education benefits and TN Strong Act benefits to students, faculty, and staff.
• Respond to ad-hoc VA requests for verification of veterans throughout the academic year.
