Job summary

Northeast State Community College in Blountville, TN, is hiring a School Certifying Official to certify VA education benefits and support military-affiliated students.

Reporting to the VaMSSC Director, you will manage annual training, comply with VA/DoD procedures, handle records, admissions, and communications, and represent the college on campus and in the community.

This clerical role requires an associate degree or higher, with prior experience in higher education or VA benefits preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• Experience in higher education or Veterans services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Certify benefit recipients to VA and maintain related annual training requirements.
• Comply with policies to maintain GI Bill benefits eligibility.
• Follow VA and DoD Memorandum of Understanding procedures.
• Manage VaMSSC administrative duties including records, calls, mail, website/social media, and walk-in clients.
• Initiate admissions and education benefit applications.
• Enter veterans' information into systems and certify eligible students each semester.
• Promote VaMSSC services on campus and in the community, including travel to local guard/reserve units.
