Job summary

U.S.VETS is seeking a Veteran Service Assistant to support daily residential operations at our Houston site. You will assist in delivering basic services and help maintain a safe, respectful environment for veterans.

Responsibilities include coordinating with clinical staff, handling mail and move-ins/outs, conducting safety rounds, and documenting incidents. The role requires communication skills, basic computer literacy, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with programs and homeless populations is preferred.
• Basic computer literacy is required.
• Energetic, mission-driven and flexible.
• Ability to work collaboratively with residential staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering basic services (shelter, food, hygiene) to veterans at the facility.
• Maintain a harmonious facility atmosphere by communicating with clinical staff and supporting a therapeutic environment.
• Handle client mail, move-ins and move-outs, and document incidents.
• Conduct safety rounds and ensure readiness for inspections.
• Assist with bed checks, room inspections, and daily living activities.
• Perform administrative duties including bed checks, incident reports, and client logs.
