Job summary

U.S.VETS is seeking a Veteran Service Assistant to provide daily essential services in a safe, respectful living environment for veterans. You will assist with meals, hygiene supplies, shelter, and client transitions while collaborating with clinical and residential staff to maintain a supportive setting.

The role requires strong communication, composure under pressure, and basic computer skills. A valid driver’s license is preferred for vehicle-related tasks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with veterans, recovery populations, or similar populations preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to remain composed in high-stress situations and apply sound judgment.
• Commitment to fostering a safe, sober, and respectful environment.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Valid driver’s license preferred (vehicle use may require training and insurance eligibility).

Responsibilities

• Deliver daily essential services such as meals, hygiene supplies, and shelter with dignity and care.
• Support veterans with their needs, concerns, and transitions—including move-ins and move-outs—while maintaining a client-first approach.
• Respond to and help prevent verbal and physical altercations; document incidents and report to site leadership promptly.
• Implement and uphold safety protocols, including bed checks, emergency response actions, and room inspections.
• Work closely with clinical and residential staff to maintain a therapeutic and supportive environment.
• Assist with facility cleanliness, maintenance, inventory supply needs, and inspections preparation.
• Maintain logs, reports, and documentation of services, safety checks, and client interactions.
• Weekly cleaning of residential units and administration building, plus common areas in adjoining building.
