Job summary

InteCare, Inc. seeks a full-time staff member to support veterans and their families through walk-in and hotline assistance at the Veteran Service Center in Indianapolis. The role focuses on eligibility screening, resource connections, and intake coordination for the SSVF program.

The incumbent serves as a primary contact for Veterans, providing information, referrals, and a warm handoff to intake or community resources while maintaining HMIS records and program orientations.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of community resources.
• Excellent writing and interpersonal skills, as well as leadership skills.
• Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication skills especially when communicating with individuals in distress.
• Proficient in use of cell phones and other applicable electronic equipment, as well as social media.
• Valid Indiana Driver’s License and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Live answering and management of the SSVF Toll Free referral line during business hours; intake queue referrals and eligibility screening.
• Provide in-person support at the Veteran Service Center (VSC) and warm handoffs to intake, case management, or community resources.
• Coordinate VSC walk-in coverage and hotline responsibilities for timely access to services.
• Collect documentation from Veterans entering the SSVF program and ensure program orientation.
• Access HMIS to determine eligibility for InteCare’s Veteran services programs.
• Document all hotline calls and referrals in the InteCare SSVF Portal.
