Job summary

NYC Department of Veterans’ Services is seeking a Housing and Support Services Coordinator to manage housing initiatives for homeless veterans across NYC, coordinating with housing staff and external partners to facilitate rapid rehousing.

The role involves direct support of the Housing & Support Services unit, handling intake, coordinating housing plans, and working with landlords, shelters, and community partners to ensure a smooth transition to permanent housing.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or related area.
• High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or related area.
• Education and/or experience equivalent to first two options; must include at least one year of experience as described.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake on clients and update information as details emerge.
• Present housing needs to staff and external partners for housing assistance.
• Assist clients through steps of housing process including housing plan development, interviews, applications, and financial documentation; coordinate with landlords and shelters for transition to permanent housing.
• Work with interagency partners to initiate contact with new clients and drive housing process to completion.
