Job summary

U.S.VETS in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Case Manager II to provide trauma‑informed, strengths‑based services to veterans facing housing instability and related challenges.

You will conduct assessments, develop service plans, coordinate with VA and community partners, and support clients through housing, employment, and recovery, with a focus on dignity and independence. This is a mission‑driven nonprofit seeking dedicated professionals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field.
• At least two years of work experience in case management or social services.
• Ability to pass background checks for certain programs.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Experience with homeless, veteran, or justice‑involved populations is a plus.
• Certification in Substance Abuse Counseling.
• Experience facilitating groups or life skills classes.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma‑informed, strengths‑based case management to veterans.
• Develop individualized service plans addressing housing, employment, education, recovery, legal, financial, medical, and mental health needs.
• Coordinate services with the VA, landlords, employers, treatment providers, and community resources.
• Conduct regular one‑on‑one meetings and home visits for project‑based and scattered‑site housing.
• Transport clients to appointments and meetings as needed.
• Facilitate life skills groups or therapeutic groups for veteran populations.
• Assist with crisis intervention and after‑hours support.
• Document services and critical incident reports in MCR and electronic records.
• Conduct random drug and alcohol screenings and ensure policy compliance.
• Support reporting, audits, and file reviews with Program Coordinator and Director of Behavioral Health.
