Job summary

The New York State Department of Health seeks a Nursing Assistant to provide skilled care for Veterans in the Home, including bathing, dressing, feeding, hygiene, transfers, ostomy care, ROM exercises, and assisting with treatments and daily living activities. May accompany residents to external appointments.

All shifts are available with alternate weekends off. Posted salary range is $57,943–$62,131, with additional geographic and other statutory pay differentials and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• Current New York Certification as a Nursing Assistant.
• Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health St. Albans' employees with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Nursing Assistant Certified, Grade 8.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a Long-Term Care Facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled care to the Veterans who reside at the Home, such as bathing, dressing, feeding, general hygiene, transfer of residents, care of ostomies, colostomy & ileostomy, maintenance of ROM to prevent contractures, recognition and reporting of abnormal signs and symptoms, measurement and recording of fluid intake, and assistance to the health care team in treatments and observations.
• May accompany the transport of residents to outside appointments.
