Job summary

The New York State Department of Health Veterans Home at Oxford is hiring a Certified Nursing Assistant on a full-time, temporary basis for a 6:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m. night shift. You will provide skilled care to veterans and dependents, including bathing, feeding and transfers, assist the health care team, and help maintain daily living activities.

Salary ranges from $51,793 to $55,981 with generous benefits. Qualification requires NYS CNA certification; preferred experience in geriatrics;

Qualifications

• Current New York Certification as a Nursing Assistant.
• Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health Veterans Home at Oxford employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Nursing Assistant Certified, Grade 8.
• Experience in a geriatric setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled care including bathing, dressing, feeding, hygiene and transfers.
• Care of ostomies, ROM, and monitoring fluids.
• Assist health care team with treatments and observations.

The Certified Nursing Assistant will provide skilled care to the veterans and their dependents who reside at our facility, such as but not limited to: bathing, dressing, feeding, general hygiene, transferring residents, care of ostomies, colostomy & ileostomy, maintenance of individual range of motion to prevent contractures, recognizing and reporting abnormal signs and symptoms of common conditions/diseases, measuring and recording fluid intake, and assisting the health care team in treatments and observations, along with all aspects of daily living care.

Minimum Qualifications

Float position, not designated to a specific unit/neighborhood.

The work hours for the second position are 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Temporary, non-competitive, full-time appointment.

Posted salary range ($51,793 - $55,981) includes statutory hiring rate at step 4 and job rate for grade 8, plus a geographic pay differential of $4,000.

If applicable, the inconvenience pay program of $575 per year will be paid to employees who work four (4) hours or more between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Hours worked between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on an overtime basis are not included for Inconvenience Pay.
