Job summary

Veterans Health Administration, a part of the Department of Veterans Affairs, seeks a Nursing Assistant for the Community Living Center at Montrose and Castle Point in New York. This Open & Continuous Announcement runs until 9/30/2026 with rotating Day/Evening/Night shifts, weekends and holidays as needed to support 24/7 care.

The NA will work with the nursing team to provide comprehensive care across preventive, acute, chronic and rehabilitative services, including patient education and safety.

Qualifications

• Education recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for federal employment.
• If using foreign education, submit a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with transcript.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in a 24/7 long-term care unit.
• Assist licensed nursing staff and participate in care planning.
• Observe resident conditions and report changes to nursing personnel.
• Perform tracheostomy care including suctioning.
• Monitor intake/output and conduct hourly rounds as required.
• Support patient and family orientation to unit routines.
