Job summary

VHB’s NYC, NY office seeks a Vertical Structures Intern to gain hands-on experience in structural design and documentation for transportation projects in New York and the Northeast. The role emphasizes learning technical skills and computational software to support team efforts.

The internship is open for summer 2027. You will collaborate with staff and clients, assist in CAD/BIM tasks, and contribute to analysis, detailing, and reporting under senior engineers’ guidance.

Qualifications

• Pursuing B.S. or M.S. in Civil/Structural or Architectural Engineering with structural focus.
• Familiarity with drawing production and BIM tools is a plus (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM).
• Experience with structural analysis/design software is a plus (RISA 3D, SAP2000, Enercalc).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with VHB staff and clients to advance projects on schedule.
• Assist engineers with construction documents using CAD/BIM software.
• Perform structural analysis, design, and detailing tasks under supervision.
• Prepare written materials and reports summarizing project work.
