Job summary

VHB's New York City office is seeking a civil engineering intern to join our team for Summer 2027 in a full-time, hybrid arrangement (in-office at least 3 days per week).

Location: New York City, NY. The role includes supporting planning and engineering tasks, data collection, and report preparation under supervision, with opportunities to work across disciplines and with clients and consultants.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Team oriented with strong capability to work independently.
• Self-motivated with attention to detail.
• A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve.
• Knowledge of drawing and mapping tools such as AutoCAD and GIS preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word and Excel) required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with numerous VHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely manner.
• Assist in development of planning and engineering solutions.
• Assist in data mining and visualization.
• Perform analysis of data or calculations.
• Perform field data collection and other on-site project support activities.
• Prepare written documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports.
