Job summary

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is seeking an Occupational Therapist for its Inpatient Rehabilitation: Physical & Occupational Therapy department. The role requires a degree in Occupational Therapy, an active OT license, and a potential Master’s degree.

The position includes a 40-hour work week, M-F 8–5, with one weekend per month and accompanying comp days. Responsibilities include patient evaluation, care planning, treatment implementation, documentation, and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution required.
• Master of Occupational Therapy preferred or educational requirements commensurate with the date of graduation.
• Active Occupational Therapy license in the state(s) of employment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
• Maintains continuing education in accordance with applicable state professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Age-appropriate patient care across the lifespan in accordance with policy and job standards.
• Evaluate patients' physical, perceptual, cognitive, social, and vocational abilities; develop individualized plans of care.
• Implement treatment interventions including therapeutic exercise, functional mobility, and activities of daily living.
• Set functional goals and monitor progress to optimize outcomes; coordinate with team and caregivers.
• Provide patient and caregiver education and support discharge planning with home program instructions.
• Maintain professional communication with patients, caregivers, providers, staff, and external partners.
• Complete documentation including evaluations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and billing.
• Maintain a safe, clean treatment environment and ensure equipment is properly cleaned and stored.
• Participate in continuing education and process improvement activities.

Education

Degree in Occupational Therapy

Master of Occupational Therapy preferred

Active Occupational Therapy license
