Job summary

CommuniCare Health Centers (Texas) seeks a Medical Assistant to support both front and back office operations. The role includes assisting with patient care, referrals, and communication, with duties ranging from injections to EKGs and screenings.

The candidate will manage patient histories, vital signs, and audits while maintaining supplies and equipment. Travel to other clinics may be required; high school diploma and BLS are required, with EMR/EHR experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum one year experience as a Medical Assistant and/or a Medical Assistant Diploma and/or a Medical Assistant Certification.
• Experience with EMR/EHR preferred.
• Experience in a primary health care setting preferred.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Ability to travel to other clinic sites as needed.
• Scheduled hours and/or work locations are subject to change.

Responsibilities

• Assists with day-to-day front and back office operations; coordinates referrals and patient communication.
• Administers injections and assists with non-invasive patient care procedures (EKGs, vision/hearing screenings).
• Obtains patient history and vital signs; documents quality metrics for audits.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and ensures equipment calibration; stocks exam rooms.
• Registers patients and updates demographics; verifies insurance and posts encounter data.
• Performs end-of-day reconciliations; ensures cash handling is secure.
• Prepares for next day clinic by chart prep and pre-registration; screen program eligibility.
• Provides exceptional customer service; assists other departments as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
