The New York State Center for Recruitment & Public Service seeks a General Mechanic to perform journey-level maintenance across multiple trades in state facilities. You will repair, install, and build, supervise others, and ensure safety standards are followed.

Applicants should have four years of experience in a skilled trade, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to read blueprints and operate tools. The role supports essential state operations and may require overtime during winter.

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled journey-level position or equivalent.
• Must be able to read and write in English.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle in NY.
• Ability to work at heights and lift heavy objects (50+ lbs).

Responsabilités

• Perform journey-level maintenance across a combination of trades.
• Supervise others in maintenance, repair, installation and construction tasks.
• Design, plan, layout and complete general trades projects from descriptions or sketches.
• Inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with codes and schedules.
• Maintain inventory and assist with procurement and tool distribution.
