Job summary

The City of Norfolk’s General Services Department – Facilities Maintenance Division maintains a portfolio of public venues including Scope Arena, Chrysler Hall, Attucks Theatre, and Harbor Park, ensuring safety and readiness for events. The SevenVenues Maintenance Team responds to requests, performs preventive and corrective maintenance, and documents findings while coordinating with event staff.

The Maintenance Mechanic II – SevenVenues role requires hands-on building and mechanical

Qualifications

• Two to four years of progressively responsible experience performing building, grounds, or facilities maintenance.
• High school diploma or GED required; additional vocational or technical coursework in building trades preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair of pumps, motors, plumbing, lighting, and mechanical systems in assigned venues.
• Complete preventive maintenance tasks to ensure venue readiness and safe building operations.
• Proactively monitor facilities during events and initiate work orders for corrective action.
• Assist contractors by providing access and coordinating with venue staff.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical fixtures, plumbing systems, and building components as assigned.
